One of our favourite holidays in Turkey is on a gullet cruise. Cruising is in traditional hand-made wooden sailing vessels known as “gullets” and these sail around the lovely unspoilt coves and bays of the southern Turkish coast. Daily duration of cruising is usually not longer than 3-4 hours and the rest of the day can be spent in beautiful secluded bays with pine forests reaching into the crystal waters. Please contact me for details of these cruises.

Where do you start with Turkey holidays? In this magnificent country where the past meets the present and modern blends with the traditional, choose between bustling cities, religious centres, Black Sea and Mediterranean coast, natural phenomena and ancient sites.

Throw yourself into the hustle and bustle of Istanbul, straddling the Bosphorus, with its Grand Bazaar and skyline of minarets. Witness the whirling dervishes in the caravanserai town of Konya, visit one of the seven wonders of the world in Bodrum and stroll along the palm-lined promenade by the clear waters of the Aegean in Izmir.

Regent Recommends

Admire the mysterious Lycian tombs crafted into the sides of cliffs and ponder how they were constructed.

Wonder at the lunar landscape of Cappadocia with its underground city, rock churches and cave houses. Bathe in the warm travertine pools at Pamukkale, wade through the clear waters of Saklikent Gorge and walk round the encircling black basalt walls of Diyarbatir.

The Anzac memorials to the fallen of the World War I battlefields at Gallipoli are sobering but the Roman city of Ephesus and the site of the siege of Troy are true wonders. Get to know the locals by joining them in a traditional hammam for a scrub down.
