Moscow Hotel Details
Radisson Royal Hotel
Overview
What's not to like about this gorgeous Art Deco landmark hotel that sits on a bend in the Moskva River in a prestigious neighbourhood. The rooms are classic and elegant with top-of-the range amenities, the views are stunning, you get to choose from several gourmet restaurants and, if you decide you really should leave the hotel to explore, Red Square and the Kremlin are just about within walking distance!
The 34-storey tiered edifice is a fine example of Soviet might, and the rococo interiors continue the theme of Russian opulence, with plenty of marble, yellow gold, floral upholstery, plush carpets, murals and chandeliers. The Tatler Club restaurant and some of the Executive rooms have a more modern look. About 1,200 paintings by prominent 20th-century Russian artists are displayed in the public spaces and bedrooms. The five-star service is formal yet friendly.
We stayed in this hotel in the summer of 2010 and can heartily recommend this hotel. Summer or winter, make sure you cruise the Moskva River on board a Radisson river boat for wonderful vistas of the Kremlin, St Basil’s and Novodevichy Convent. Choose a lunch or dinner cruise for the two hour journey and either have a meal in the reasonably priced restaurant or just enjoy a glass of something chilled in the summer or a warming drink in the winter as you watch history glide past.
