Today embark on a 2-3-hour guided hike in the Finnish taiga. Follow your professional guide and learn more about how to identify the tracks of a European brown bear in the forest: as droppings and marks on trees. Listen interesting stories about Finnish bears and other wildlife living in the forest and, in the afternoon, return to Hotel Kalevala for a relaxing sauna. (B,D*)

After breakfast, visit Petola Nature Centre, where an interesting exhibition presents Finland's large carnivores: bears, wolves, lynxes and wolverines. The centre is located at just 300m from hotel Kalevala and entrance is free of charge. In the afternoon, transfer to the forest for a thrilling bear watching night. On arrival, enjoy an early dinner served at the Bear Centre, then reach your private 'Bear hide'* and get ready for a special night looking out for bears, wolves and wolverines. Meeting the "Wild Brown Bear" and other wildlife in its natural environment, the wild taiga, is an unforgettable experience and offers an opportunity to take the shot of a lifetime from the safety of a specially designed hide. *Please note that the 'Bear hides' are very small and basic and they feature bunk beds and dry toilet. Ask your Regent Specialists to upgrade to a comfortable 'Luxury bear cabin hide' with double bed, table and chairs, small kitchenette, flush toilet and shower.

After an exciting wildlife watching night, transfer back to the hotel for breakfast and spend the rest of the day resting and relaxing, perhaps bathing in one of the hotel indoor or outdoor Jacuzzis. In the evening, enjoy a 3-course dinner before setting off on a 2-3 hour guided elk safari to meet these impressive mammals in their natural habitat. (B,D*)
