Travel to Akureyri, making a stop at the magnificent Godafoss Waterfall and the old turf farm, Laufas. Akureyri has some of the finest timber buildings in the country, beautifully restored to their original glory. Overnight in Akureyri. (B)
Travel to Skagafjordur, home of the unique Icelandic horse, towards Blonduos on the river Blanda. Cross Holtavorduheidi through Borgarfjordur to Borgarnes. Overnight in Borgarnes. (B,D)
Drive to Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in the world. Admire the Hraunfossar Waterfalls before continuing over the breathtaking Kaldidalur Mountain Pass. The journey continues to Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest lake, and Thingvellir National Park, the ancient site of the world’s first outdoor parliament. Overnight in Reykjavik. (B)
