former Soviet Union, including a visit to The Kremlin

Union and present-day Russia. Guides will focus on Soviet
history, culture and architecture, thus providing a
fascinating insight to this era.

| Day 1 |
FLY TO MOSCOW
Fly to Moscow, transfer to hotel for two nights.

| Day 2 |
MOSCOW
Full day tour by metro of Moscow visiting a selection
of sights and monuments connected to the former
Soviet Union including Red Square (if time permitting
a visit to Lenins Mausoleum), The Kremlin
and the House on the Embankment. During the mass
political purges of the 1930s, this house was inhabited
by top Soviet officials and about one third were
deported. Lunch at former KBG canteen, now a restaurant
owned by retired KGB officers. The restaurant is
lavishly decorated with KGB memorabilia and portraits
and serves 'Soviet' style meals! Afternoon visit
to the Museum of the Frontier Guards. |
| Day 3 |
MOSCOW TO MINSK
Free day before transfer to railway station for
overnight train to Minsk. |
| Day 4 |
MINSK
Arrive Minsk, transfer to hotel for overnight.
Morning city tour of Minsk, one of the Hero Cities
of the ex- U.S.S.R. and now the capital of the
last Communist state in Europe. The tour includes
a visit to Souvorovsky College, a museum dedicated
to the first meeting of R.S.D.R.P., where the
Communist Party was proclaimed, as well as other
places of interest connected with the history
of the ex-Soviet Union. After lunch, visit to
the Line of Stalin and the newly opened museum.
The Line of Stalin was a fortification line built
in 1933 to protect the western borders of the
U.S.S.R. It stretched for more than 2000 km from
the Barentsev to the Black sea and consisted of
21 fortified regions. Here, there is the possibility
to meet and talk with soldiers who guard this
museum. Return to Minsk.

| Day 5 |
MINSK TO BREST
Drive to Brest, the main gateway to the former
U.S.S.R. and also a symbol of the Iron Curtain.
En route visit Dzyarzhynsk, the birthplace of
Felix Dzerzhinsky, founder of KGB. After lunch,
tour of Brest including Brest-Hero Fortress and
the Fortress Defence and Railway Museum. Check-in
hotel for overnight.

| Day 6 |
BREST TO MINSK
Drive back to Minsk with en-route excursion to
Belavezhskaya Pushcha National Park and Viskyli,
the residence where the document was signed by
Secretaries General of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus
effectively dissolving the U.S.S.R. Also included
is a visit to a Kolkhoz, a collective farm. Arrive
Minsk and transfer to hotel for overnight.

FLY TO UK
Free morning before transfer to airport for flight
back to the UK.
