About Jurate Kuodyte

Jurate joined us in October 2005 and was a very welcome addition to our team in the Bristol office. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge especially about her beloved homeland Lithuania. If you want to know the best places to visit in Lithuania then Jurate is definitely the best person in the office to talk to! Jurate has also travelled extensively throughout Poland, Hungary, Estonia and Kaliningrad, and has inspected numerous hotels in Bratislava and Vienna, as well as making many trips back home. In 2009, she toured Serbia, Macedonia, Kosovo and Montenegro and led our popular group to Albania. In Jan 2010 she travelled to Taiwan to research our tour programme there. In Nov 2010 she visited Dubrovnik for the weekend and in May 2011 escorted one of our small group tours to Kaliningrad. She took a 4 month break in late 2011 touring Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos & India .

In addition to speaking fluent English and her mother tongue, Lithuanian, she speaks excellent Russian, a little Spanish and is currently learning French. She has a warm and friendly personality and is very creative, having recently taken up jewellery making,  taking inspiration for her designs from the many countries she has visited.

The Highlight of my Kosovo Tour

The main highlight of the classic Kosovo Group Tour for me was visiting the Decani Monastery - a stunning a 14th-century Romanesque church with wonderful Byzantine frescoes. A charming Kosovo Serbian monk calmly explained that this Orthodox treasure had been attacked 28 times (the last time just 2 years ago). A Kosovan Muslim couple with a little sick child came to pray for his health to St Stephen on the same day as us. On leaving, we saw the child receiving sweets and cakes from the Italian UN soldier on guard.

Food in abundance on the Classic Kosovan Group Tour!

When leading our Classic Kosovan Group Tour, I am constantly bowled over by the quality and quantity of the food… differently prepared meat and fish dishes, fresh seasonal vegetables, warm freshly made home-baked warm bread (particularly in Gjakova), mouthwatering selections of cheeses and quirky deserts. The food in most places was so excellent that I think we could rename it a gourmet tour!
