Ohrid, with its atmospheric old quarter and beautiful churches along a graceful hill is one of Macedonia's most charming destinations. This tailor-made tour combines historic and cultural attractions with a relaxing stay at the Aleksandar Villa Hotel. This wonderful boutique hotel is located just outside of the city, near Lake Ohrid - one of the world's oldest and 32km-long lake - and St. Sophia church. Discover the many archeological treasures spread through the city including churches as John at Kaneo, perched on the cliffs above the lake.
We loved Macedonia and there is little doubt that it will become a major holiday destination in the not too distant future. Skopje is a vibrant city full of life and interest. Lake Ohrid is superb with its magnificent backdrop of mountains. The arrangements by Regent Holidays were excellent.
Service from both hotels was excellent. Hotel Duvet - the owner have up a morning to drive us around Mt. Vodno! At Villa Sveti Sofija guests should know that the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor but everything is fine! Excellent service from Regent Holidays! On the travel tips - useful for visitors to Macedonia to obtain on arrival small denominations of denars as 1000MKD not readily acceptable in shop!
Overall the holiday was very enjoyable and we saw a lot of Macedonia which I really appreciated. Our guide was brilliant and made the tour so interesting, and he couldn’t have done enough for us. We all had fun and a laugh. I will have fond memories of this holiday for years to come.
If I were to rate our guide in terms of hotel stars I would rate him 5 star. He was always courteous and polite, and very knowledgeable about all the places we visited. His enthusiasm was infectious and he always had a smile. I have never been on a holiday where I have laughed so much which was all down to my travelling companions including our guide. Last but by no means least Ellie Marr’s cheerfulness and help also made this a very enjoyable holiday.
