Oman is the latest addition to our list of destinations in the Middle East. It is the oldest independent state in the Arab world and a remarkably diverse country, offering vast desert dunes, mountain walks, white sandy beaches and a fascinating culture. Our adventure holidays in Oman offer countless moments of wonder and are guaranteed to be unique.

Ideal for self-drive holidays and off-the-beaten-track adventures, the country showcases unique natural beauty and experiences wherever you visit. You can explore the sugar dunes of Al Khaluf and hike the expansive Hajar Mountain Range or admire dolphins on the picturesque Musandam Peninsula.

The capital city, Muscat, is renowned for its glittering souqs, delicious culinary offerings and combination of ancient and modern architecture. Journey to the traditional mountain villages of Balad Sayt and Misfat Al Abryeen or visit the imposing Nizwa Fort first and then get lost in the nearby souk, where you can put your haggling skills to the test.

During the day, you can explore the famous Wahiba Sands with its immense ochre-coloured dunes on foot, on a quad or camel back. In the evening, you can observe green turtles hatch their eggs at Ras Al Jinz, one of the most important nesting areas in the world. You can also unearth Oman’s rich history at the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Bat, Al-Khutm and Al-Ayn.

Our Oman adventure holidays are perfect for multi-generational travel and outdoor enthusiasts as well as nature and wildlife lovers. Moreover, the Mediterranean climate makes Oman a great year-round destination.

Oman is a hotbed of culture. From camel rides in Wahiba Sands to following the rocky contours of the Hajar Mountain range, this unique Middle East country on the Arabian Peninsula is a spectacular travel experience. Delightful cities like Sur and Sohar provide a plethora of activities to get stuck in, whether that be sampling the local cuisine or relaxing on the white sands of the beautiful beaches. Each cultural sight is entirely special and different to the last. Alternatively, browsing intricate handiworks at the souks and visiting ancient forts and castles are great ways to immerse yourself in the Omani culture. All-in-all, adventure holidays to Oman are perfect for independent and off-the-beaten-track exploration.

Susanne's Tips
1
Visit the Ras Al Jinz turtle sanctuary during your Oman adventure holiday to see green turtles lay eggs (April to June) and hatchlings scampering around (August to November). Oman is one of the best places in the world to see baby turtles hatch.
2
Walk along the precipitous Balcony Walk in Oman’s own Grand Canyon for a peek down into Wadi Ghul 1000m below. Alternatively, discover hidden pools and waterfalls while hiking in the wadis on our Oman walking holidays.
3
Take a break from driving on our Oman self-drive holidays by relaxing on a dhow cruise and watch dolphins in addition to seeing picturesque sights like the Musandam fjords or the coast nearby Muscat.
