Medina, or, the Enlightened City, is the second most holy city in Islam after Mecca and home to three important mosques, including the first mosque ever built and the Prophet’s Mosque built above the tomb of Mohammed. Muslims can now enter the city and see the Prophet's Mosque but not go inside.
