Take the mountain road out of Torshavn, stopping to take in the breath-taking views across to the island of Koltur from Mordadalur. Continue via the undersea tunnel to the island of Vagar and pass through the villages of Sandavagur, Midvagur and Sorvagur. The highlight of the trip is the visit to Gasadalur, until recently one of the most isolated villages in the Faroes which could only be reached by foot from Bour, over the top of a mountain until a tunnel was built through it and opened in 2003. From the village there are views across to Tindholmur and Mykines and a short walk brings views across to the iconic waterfall.
