Departing the hotel at 2:00 AM, travel to the base of Mount Batur. Upon arrival, meet with a trekking guide who will provide a safety briefing and instructions for the morning's adventure. With flashlights in hand, embark on an unforgettable Mt. Batur sunrise trek. The two-hour trek follows a well-defined path, passing through volcanic ash, sand, and small rocks left behind by Mount Batur's previous eruptions. While mostly uphill, there are ample opportunities to rest along the way. Despite the lack of a view in the early morning, the clear sky provides excellent stargazing opportunities. Upon reaching the crater rim at 1,717 metres above sea level, find a spot to sit and await the sunrise. Enjoy stunning views of Bali and neighbouring Mount Abang and Mount Agung from this vantage point, as the first light of day illuminates the landscape.
After sunrise, enjoy a simple breakfast and a cup of coffee before continuing along the trekking trail. Crossing to another crater rim, descend along the same path used earlier, this time enjoying the views under the bright morning sun. Along the trail, see lava flows from recent eruptions and the aftermath of the destruction left behind. Upon returning to the base of Mount Batur, head to a nearby hot spring for a relaxing soak to soothe tired muscles. Afterwards, enjoy a local lunch before returning to the hotel.
