On this excursion head out on snowmobiles into the wilderness. Away from the lights of town the aurora is even stronger so don't forget to look up when you stop! Between November 14 and January 29, the Polar Night descends on Longyearbyen. The sun is at least 6 degrees under the horizon at all times, meaning that you can hunt the northern lights at any time of day. See if you can spot reindeer kicking in the snow to find their fodder, and the arctic fox slinking around in the dark. If you are in luck, the Aurora Borealis will light up the magical snow-covered landscape.
