Authentic Life of Hanoi

To truly understand a city, you must explore it on foot. Join a local guide to navigate the streets of Vietnam’s capital, uncovering hidden gems alongside iconic landmarks. Delve into Hanoi’s rich history and culture, and gain a unique perspective by visiting a local home to learn about the city’s recent past through the eyes of a resident family. The tour also includes a visit to the famous train street, a global sensation due to its distinctive charm.

The journey begins at 08:30 or 14:30 with a stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake, leading to the stunning St Joseph's Cathedral in the historic heart of the city, an area rich with stories both ancient and modern. From here, step into the tranquillity of a local home, where you can enjoy a strong cup of green tea, just as the locals do while learning about the fascinating lives of the past and present generations.

Continue your exploration with a walk along Phung Hung Street, which parallels the railway track and features mural paintings that capture the essence of Hanoi's heritage. Afterwards, transfer to Gia Lam Train Station and, if available, board a local train for a slow yet remarkable ten-minute journey across the historic Long Bien Bridge over the Red River. Built in 1902 and once the longest bridge in Asia, it gained further fame during the 1970s when it withstood numerous bombing raids during the American War. After disembarking, you'll be transferred back to your hotel or next destination.

Please note that local trains offer basic seating, with two daily departures at 11:20 and 17:08, subject to availability.
