At the Graciosa Resort Biosphere Island Hotel, each room enjoys a private balcony overlooking the pool and the sea. Just a 15-minute walk from Santa Cruz, the island's major town, and offering parking for fly-drive holidays, the Graciosa Resort is the perfect base from which to uncover both daily life and the natural environment.
The island, along with Corvo and Flores, is a designated UNESCO biosphere reserve so any development has to be undertaken with the natural environment in mind. As a result, the visually pretty, low and unobtrusive buildings of the Graciosa Resort have been carefully designed to compliment their surroundings.
The resort is overlooked by Mount Nossa Senhora da Ajuda and the adjacent marina (due for completion Easter 2018) is currently being transformed from an old whaling port to a modern harbour using local tools and skills.
