With just 14 individually styled rooms, Havgrím feels much more like a private residence than a conventional hotel.
Interiors take their inspiration from the changing colours of the fjord, sea and Faroese landscape. Categories range from compact Standard and Superior Rooms to larger Deluxe Rooms and the Commodore Suite. Some Deluxe Rooms have private terraces, while room views vary, so we'd recommend choosing carefully if a sea view is important. Rooms include tea and coffee-making facilities, satellite TV, safe, slippers and toiletries.
Breakfast is served at the hotel, with an emphasis on locally sourced produce wherever possible. There is no full-service lunch or dinner restaurant, but central Tórshavn's excellent choice of restaurants is within walking distance. The hotel's sister property, Kaffihúsið, is beside the marina and offers coffee, breakfast, light dishes and its own pâtisserie.
Havgrím enjoys a lovely waterfront position at Yviri við Strond, a short walk from Skansin and within easy walking distance of Tórshavn's old town and centre. The garden and terrace make the most of the setting, with views across the water towards Nólsoy.
Sustainability is also taken seriously here. Heating and hot water are supplied using geothermal energy drawn from around 200 metres below the hotel's garden, while locally sourced produce and environmentally responsible cleaning products are used wherever possible. Complimentary parking is available.
"For something with more character than a conventional city hotel, Havgrím is hard to beat. We love its history, small scale and position right beside the sea – close enough to walk into Tórshavn, but with a much quieter feel once you're back at the hotel." - Joanna Wheeler, Senior Travel Specialist
