Hotel Qarshia e Jupave is full of character and enjoys a wonderful location in the heart of Gjakova’s historic Old Bazaar. The original complex dates back to the 18th century, while the traditional stone tower was carefully reconstructed following the Kosovo War, retaining many elements of local architecture and craftsmanship. Today, the hotel combines traditionally inspired interiors with comfortable modern rooms and one of Gjakova’s best-known restaurants.
Rooms combine contemporary comforts with traditional touches and include air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, safe and tea and coffee-making facilities. Accommodation ranges from Standard and Deluxe rooms to larger Premium rooms and suites, including a suite with its own sauna.
Food is an important part of a stay here. The atmospheric restaurant serves a generous breakfast alongside traditional local and European dishes for lunch and dinner. There is also a bar and coffee shop, and we particularly recommend making time for a coffee – something Gjakova takes very seriously.
The hotel sits within Gjakova’s historic Old Bazaar, making it an excellent base for exploring the city on foot. Wander through the bazaar’s traditional streets and shops, visit the nearby Hadum Mosque and explore a city that feels quite different from Prishtina and Prizren.
We’ve been sending clients to Qarshia e Jupave since we first started operating holidays to Kosovo in 2009, and we’ve stayed here ourselves several times. It’s a real Regent favourite. We love the traditional character, the excellent food and coffee and, above all, the genuinely friendly staff. Its position right in the Old Bazaar makes it somewhere that feels very much part of Gjakova rather than simply a place to sleep.
