Skábma is a beautiful, 14-bed log cabin ideally situated near Urho Kekkonen National Park and just 15 minutes walk from the centre of Saariselkä. In Sámi, Skábma means polar night. The name was chosen to represent the loghouse because, in the north, these long nights are associated with finding joy in the simple things in life, like sitting by the fireplace, lighting candles and being pampered. These values are at the heart of Skábma's philosophy and exactly what guests can expect from their stay.
Inside its picturesque timber walls are six double rooms and one junior suite which has its own balcony. Each room enjoys en-suite facilities and the cabin also has two saunas.
The elegant and rustic décor lends itself to an atmosphere of tranquillity and harmony, with generous spaces for socialising including a large kitchen, lounge and dining room.
Guests have the option to self-cater, enjoy the local restaurants in Saariselka, or for something truly memorable, they can opt to include a dinner prepared by a private chef right from the comforts of their home-away-from-home.
Relish the knowledge that, after a therapeutic day spent in the refreshing arctic air, you get to return to Skábma to rest and rejuvenate in your exclusive hideaway. The opportunities are endless: whether you are exploring a winter wonderland by by dog sled, snowmobile, snowshoes or skies; or fishing on the pristine lakes, foraging in the lush forests or hiking through the verdant fells in the spring and summer, each season offers unique and unforgettable moments under the northern sky.
