Built in 1903 and fully renovated in 1991, this luxury hotel is located in the centre of Moscow within walking distance of Red Square. This is one of Moscow's most distinguished hotel, historically a hang-out for politicians, royalty and authors. Do read "A Gentleman in Moscow" written by Amor Towles, a fascinating novel set in Moscow in 1922. After the Russian Revolution Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov is spared from death but is placed under house arrest inside the Metropol Hotel.
All rooms are decorated differently in a classic style. Standard rooms have air-conditioning, satellite TV, mini-bar etc. The hotel has a health-club with an indoor pool, fitness centre and sauna. There are 2 excellent restaurants and Shalyapin Bar. The main dining room is a jewel to behold with its stained-glass windows, marble pillars, and incredible leaded-glass roof.
