This holiday to Ilulissat "Iceberg Capital of the World" includes lots of must-see experiences such as iceberg and whale watching trips and a guided hike to an old settlement. Spend four nights in Ilulissat and experience the incredible light of the midnight sun on this short break to West Greenland.
One of the highlights of any trip to Ilulissat is a boat trip to Eqi Glacier, one of the most productive glaciers in the world. With ear-splitting roars it are constantly calving, making giant waves as they crash into the sea.

Fly from Copenhagen to the western Greenlandic town of Ilulissat. Upon arrival meet your local guide and transfer to the Hotel Arctic, which will be your base for 4 nights. After a briefing with our local guide travel by bus as far as the road goes and then enjoy a guided walk along the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ilulissat Ice Fjord to Sermermiut to see the traces of ancient Inuit settlements. Sermermiut is a valley next to the ice fjord where inland you will see beautiful Arctic flowers and out to sea, magnificent icebergs. The trip will take about 2 hours. Enjoy dinner at your hotel, before perhaps exploring the town of Ilulissat under the midnight sun. (D)

Discover Ilulissat on a guided walking tour, exploring Greenland's third-largest town. Learn about its history, visit the bustling harbour and fish market, see the church and the birthplace of famed polar explorer Knud Rasmussen, and gain an insight into everyday life north of the Arctic Circle.
Later, head out on a memorable boat trip amongst the giant icebergs of the UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Icefjord. Fed by the Sermeq Kujalleq Glacier, millions of tonnes of ice enter the fjord each day, creating an ever-changing landscape of towering icebergs that is best appreciated from the water. (B)

Today, join an unforgettable whale watching excursion on the waters of Disko Bay. Around 15 species of whale visit Greenland, with humpback, minke and fin whales the species most commonly seen during the summer months. Travelling by fast boat, you'll search for these magnificent marine mammals as they feed amongst the giant icebergs, creating one of Greenland's most memorable wildlife experiences.
For an even more spectacular perspective, there's also the opportunity to take an optional helicopter flight to the UNESCO-listed Sermeq Kujalleq Glacier, where you'll enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Icefjord and its vast river of ice. (B)

Today, cruise north along Greenland's spectacular coastline to the impressive Eqi Glacier, around 80km from Ilulissat. One of the few glaciers in Greenland that can be approached safely by boat, Eqi is renowned for its dramatic calving, where huge blocks of ice break away from the glacier face and crash into the fjord with a thunderous roar.
Your journey also passes remote settlements, rugged mountains and pristine Arctic scenery, with the chance to spot whales and seals along the way. The boat will pause in front of the glacier, allowing plenty of time to admire this extraordinary natural spectacle while enjoying lunch on board before returning to Ilulissat. (B,L)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Copenhagen. (B)
