Depart London on a direct flight with Royal Jordanian (triweekly departures from Manchester and Stansted) and arrive in Amman, the capital of Jordan, late in the evening. You will be met by a representative who will help you with your visa and transfer to your hotel. (B)
After breakfast, you will meet your English-speaking guide and enjoy a coffee at the “Café Strada,” located near your hotel. Following that, the city tour of Amman will begin with visits to the Citadel and the Roman Amphitheatre. After lunch at Hashim’s restaurant in downtown Amman, you’ll join a walking tour with other travellers to explore the local markets. In the evening, you will have dinner with a local Jordanian family. (B,L,D)
You will be picked up after breakfast and taken to Jerash for a walk around one of the most well-preserved ancient walled Greco-Roman settlements in the world. Continue to Ajloun for a short hike along the Al Ayoun trail with a local guide and have lunch with a local family. Then drive to Umm Qais, with its spectacular views of the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights. (B,L,D)
Today, visit the local ruins of ancient Gadara, spend time with the locals, and participate in activities such as basket weaving and beekeeping. You will have lunch and dine with a local family. (B,L,D)
Leave Umm Qais behind and head to Madaba, the mosaic town where you can admire the oldest map of the Holy Land—a 6th-century mosaic discovered on the floor of St. George’s Church, an early Byzantine church. Afterward, visit a carob farm, where you will learn about the various farming projects of this fascinating family-run farm.
After lunch, proceed to Petra. In the evening (available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays only), attend the enchanting Petra by Night show, a magical experience that allows you to see the Treasury illuminated by candlelight. (B,L,D)
After breakfast, you will be joined by an English-speaking guide for a historical tour of the remarkable Red Rose City of Petra. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to explore the Monastery at your own pace. It’s time to leave Petra and head to Wadi Rum, where a Bedouin guide will take you on a Jeep tour. After the tour, you’ll be dropped off at your camp. Enjoy some Bedouin tea and take the time to relax until your sunset camel ride. After the ride, return to the camp for dinner and a night of stargazing. (B,L,D)
Depart from the desert and head to the Dead Sea, a landlocked salt lake. Here, you can relax and float in the salty waters while enjoying its therapeutic properties, including spa treatments and mud baths. (B)
