Petra Holidays

The Nabatean city of Petra lay hidden in the mountains of Jordan unknown to Europeans until 1812. Since then it has become famous as the rose-red city portrayed in literature and films. There are numerous routes in to and around the city with the most famous being the narrow siq which leads you to the Treasury.
There are tombs, caves and dwellings to be explored as you get away from the main street as well as steps up to the Monastery with its commanding views out over the desert and the High Place of Sacrifice looking out over the city. In the evening you can wander through the siq when it is lit by a thousand candles.
