Torshavn Holidays

Tórshavn is one of the world’s smallest capital cities, yet it offers a rich and engaging introduction to Faroese culture, history and everyday life. Located on the island of Streymoy, the city is compact, walkable and full of character. Its historic heart is Tinganes, the old town, where narrow cobbled streets weave between red-painted, turf-roofed wooden buildings that still house the Faroese parliament, making it one of the oldest parliamentary meeting places in the world.

The city has a strong cultural scene, with highlights including the National Museum of the Faroe Islands, the Art Gallery and the Nordic House, a striking cultural centre dedicated to Faroese and Nordic art, music and design. Around the harbour, cafés and restaurants serve excellent local seafood, while small shops showcase Faroese crafts and fashion. In summer, Tórshavn becomes particularly lively, hosting festivals, concerts and cultural events featuring both local and international artists.

As the main transport hub of the Faroe Islands, Tórshavn is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding islands, combining small-town charm with easy access to dramatic landscapes, coastal scenery and hiking routes.
