Just a five-minute walk from Vágar Airport, Hotel Vágar is a modern, recently renovated hotel in a wonderfully convenient location for exploring the western Faroes. Its 25 rooms, restaurant and easy parking make it particularly well suited to self-drive holidays, while some of Vágar's best-known landscapes – including Sørvágsvatn, Trælanípa, Bøur and Gásadalur – are within easy reach.
The hotel has 25 modern rooms, including Double and Twin Rooms, rooms with views and larger Superior and Family Rooms. Standard rooms are compact and contemporary, while the 30m² Superior and Family categories provide considerably more space. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, a 50-inch TV, refrigerator and tea and coffee-making facilities.
The hotel's restaurant serves breakfast each morning from early in the day – particularly useful for guests with morning flights – as well as lunch on selected days. Dinner is also offered seasonally. Large windows make the most of the surrounding landscape, creating a relaxed place to eat without having to drive elsewhere after a day exploring.
Although its proximity to the airport is extremely convenient, Hotel Vágar is much more than an overnight airport stop. The island of Vágar contains some of the Faroes' most recognisable landscapes and the hotel makes an excellent base for exploring them by car.
Visit Bøur and Gásadalur, see Múlafossur waterfall plunging towards the sea or walk to the famous viewpoint above Sørvágsvatn at Trælanípa. Sørvágur, departure point for boat trips towards Mykines and other western-island experiences, is also nearby.
The perfect place to start a Faroe Islands fly-drive. Collect your car at the airport and you can be at the hotel within minutes, but rather than rushing straight towards Tórshavn, staying here gives you time to properly explore Vágar – one of the most spectacular islands in the archipelago.
