From the northernmost fishing village, Vidareidi to the southernmost island of Suduroy encounter incredible and remote sights, hear the roar of the sea combined with rushing waterfalls, cruise alongside towering cliffs and delve into short hikes through lush green sceneries.
Enjoy the freedom that a car provides to indulge in an in depth discovery of these diverse and beautiful islands. Pull over for as many photo stops as your heart desires and spend as much (or as little) time as you'd like at various points that are of most interest to you.
Upon arrival into Vágar airport collect the hire car and a map and set off on your exciting Faroe Islands adventure. First, explore the island of Vágar with recommended visits to the villages of Sørvágur and Bøur, before driving to Gasadalar, which offers a panoramic view over the island of Mykines and Tindhólmur Islet.

Today, perhaps take the ferry to Mykines, the westermost of the 18 islands and teeming with bird life. Be sure to hike to Mykineshólmur, a challenging but rewarding route to a scenic lighthouse. Mykines is extremely busy during the summer months, so we advise pre-booking the trip as an excursion which includes ferry crossing & guide while there- full day trip from £240 per person.(B)

Today, drive to Streymoy where we recommend joining an optional excursion to the famous Vestmanna Bird Cliffs, home to the breeding grounds of puffins, guillemots and razorbills. Opt for a stop in Kvívík so see the historic Viking settlements and also stop in Eidi to see the Giant and the Witch rock formations. Drive passed the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slaettaratindur (882m), where those willing to put in the effort of the 6 km hike to summit will be reward with spectacular panoramic views. End the day in the small village of Gjógv. (B)
Overnight in Gjógv at Gjaargardur Guesthouse or similar
In the morning, drive towards the tiny village of Tjørnuvík, nestled at the end of a deep fjord which slices into the northern Streymoy shore. Hear the roar of the sea combined with the rushing waterfalls that descend behind the village whilst visiting a Viking burial site. On the way back to Gjógv stop in Saksun, a beautiful village surrounded by high mountains. (B)
Overnight at Gjaargardur Guesthouse or similar
En-route to Klaksvík visit the village of Oyndarfjørdur and see the peculiar rinkusteinar (rocking stones). These two large rocks lie about 100m off the shore and rock back and forth with the slightest wave. Continue to the island of Bordoy through the sub-sea tunnel, which is decorated with lights by the famous Faroese artist Tróndur Patursson. End the day in the town of Klaksvík. (B)

Spend the day exploring the Northern Islands which are scattered with small villages and dominated by dramatic high mountains with steep falls to the sea. Visit Vidareidi, the northernmost village on the Faroe Islands, before continuing to Kunoy. Return to Klaksvík for the evening. (B)

Drive to Tórshavn and catch the ferry to Suduroy, the southernmost island in the archipelago. This two hour ferry journey has multiple daily departures and is an experience in its own right. Enjoy the journey and take in the spectacular views while passing by several other Faroese islands. In Suduroy, enjoy magnificent green mountainsides, colourful villages and steep bird cliffs. Visit the village of Akraberg, home to a historic lighthouse, as well as Beinisvørd, a 470 meter high sea cliff, making it one of the highest in all of Europe. (B)

Enjoy a day exploring beautiful Suduroy Island. There is plenty to see and do here. The island offers a host of incredible hikes (guides are recommended), including the beautiful hike to Hvannhagi natural area. Speak with your Regent Faroe Island specialist if you would like to arrange for a guided hiking experience. Alternatively, drive along the scenic mountain roads and explore the island's remote villages. (B)

Return to the capital and spend some time exploring one of the world's smallest capital cities or take a drive to the historical buildings in Kirkjubour. Alternatively, join one of the excellent day excursions available from the capital. A cruise on the Nordlysid Schooner is a very popular choice. (B)
Overnight at Hotel Hilton Garden Faroe Islands or similar
Spend the day visiting the beautiful and green island of Sandoy, also called the Saga island due to the large volume of myths that surround it. Discover the villages of Dalur with its pretty church, Húsavík with its Heimi á Gardi ruin and fascinating legend that surrounds it, before making a stop at Skálavík to buy food and beverages. (B)
