Mango Bay Resort offers just 40 bungalows, spread along a one kilometre of beach amid twenty hectares of largely endemic forest and gardens.
The resort lies on Phu Quoc, an island in the Gulf of Thailand the size of Singapore. All of the bungalows are thatched and have been constructed using natural materials from the island. The rooms do not have air-conditioning or telephones as they have been designed to celebrate the peace and quiet of the island.
All the bungalows are simple yet beautifully decorated. Interiors are furnished with locally-made four-poster beds, wooden furniture, overhead fans and cotton mosquito nets. All have wooden shutters to allow the sea breeze to flow freely. Most rooms have outdoor bathrooms overlooking lush vegetation and hot water is provided through solar panels. Rooms and bungalows also feature free WiFi, an energy-free icebox for cool drinks, a safe deposit box and coffee and tea facilities.
The resort offers a bar and restaurant which specialises in excellent seafood. The Beach Bar has excellent cocktails. The resort is also located close to an off-shore reef which is great for snorkelling.
