Continue to Örebro, with its iconic castle and picturesque parks, and take in the scenic drives on long summer days offering a rich blend of Swedish culture and nature on this eight-day adventure.
Arrive in Stockholm and collect your hire car at the airport. Rest of the day at leisure. Stockholm offers a wide selection of world-class museums and attractions. Most of the city’s attractions can be reached on foot, and there’s a good chance of experiencing a lot of things in a short time.
Spend the day exploring Stockholm. We recommend the Town Hall and the Blue Hall, where the Nobel celebration takes place every year. Visit the Royal Castle with the national church Storkyrkan, the Vasa Museum with the 69m long warship Vasa, the oldest and most beautiful open air museum Skansen, the sculpture garden Millesgarden with a breath-taking view over Stockholm and the harbour entrance. In the afternoon, take the road towards Trosa, a town located only 65km south of Stockholm. Trosa is famous for its small flat wooden houses and the river promenade. Evening arrival in Linköping. (B)
Depart towards Karlskrona. In the morning, at your first stop, visit one of the most famous lock stairs in the Göta Canal. Then the drive continues to Astrid Lindgren, the famous Swedish writer`s home in Vimmerby. Finish your visit in the town with a tranquil walk through this beautiful place. On the way to Karlskrona, stop by the elk park to visit these beautiful creatures before you reach your final destination of the day. (B)
En route to Malmö, make a stop in Mörrum before heading towards the beautiful coastal town of Kivik and Wallander’s Ystad. Stop in Ystad and enjoy a delicious lunch in this charismatic town with its pleasant pastel-coloured and half-timbered houses. Take a walk on the famous cobblestone streets and discover the fascinating history behind the museums and art galleries that this town has to offer. Afternoon arrival in Malmö. (B)
In the morning, take a stroll in the charming streets of Malmö before you head north to Gothenburg. Drive via Halmstad. Enjoy a pleasant lunch in the city at the mouth of the Nissan River. Drive down to the Tylosand beach and experience the warm Swedish summer afternoon by the sea. Experience the city of Gothenburg through a nice relaxing tour. You can see the famous fish hall, the avenue Avenyn and the cosy artists' quarter Haga. In the centre, you will find numerous little canals and old buildings. (B)
Today visit the island of Marstrand, one of the most famous seaside resorts on the west coast of Sweden. The next stop is the stunning Läckö Castle in Västergötland. Discover the beautiful surroundings of the castle before continuing the drive to Örebro. Enjoy the lush green open areas near the castle and have a delicious picnic with a breathtaking background. After a morning in Örebro, opt to visit the Örebro Castle, located on an island in the middle of the city. Continue the drive towards Mariefred, where you can visit the Gripsholm Royal Castle, located by the lake Mälaren. In the afternoon enjoy the city of Stockholm through a canal tour. The sightseeing boat departs from Strömkajen in the centre of Stockholm. You leave the inner city behind and pass beautiful and famous buildings as you enter the peaceful Djurgården canal. Along the canal, enjoy the view of several historical buildings, museums, and beautiful green areas. (B)
Leave Stockholm behind and return the hire car to the airport and proceed to check in for the flight home. (B)
