Today discover the highlights of Iceland’s exciting capital, Reykjavík. Visit the church of Hallgrímskirkja, see the dramatic Harpa Concert Hall, the House of Parliament and the City Hall. In the afternoon, enjoy a thrilling whale watching excursion and take a dip in the Sky Lagoon. (B)

Depart Reykjavík and travel along the south coast to the magnificent Westman Islands. Explore the remarkable island of Heimaey on a captivating walking tour and learn about the detailed history of volcanic eruptions in the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago. Visit Eldheimar museum and discover bird cliffs along the Westman Islands before returning to the mainland for two nights in South Iceland at Stracta Hotel. (B)

Continue travelling across the south coast, see Seljalandsfoss waterfall, pass the glaciers Mýrdalsjökull and the infamous volcano Eyjafjallajökull on the way to the village of Vík. Walk along a black lava beach at Reynisfjara and, in the afternoon, hear the thundering Skógafoss waterfall, visit Skógar folk museum or embark on an optional easy glacier hike on the Sólheimajökull glacier. Drive the unpaved road to Landmannalaugar and hike up toward Brenninsteinsalda,  the 'rainbow' mountain of Iceland. Enjoy a picnic lunch, bathe in a natural geothermal stream and marvel at the beautiful Hjálparfoss waterfall. Overnight at Fosshotel Baron in Reykjavík. (B,L)
