DAY 1
FLY TO REYKJAVIK

Fly to Reykjavik, transfer to the hotel and check in for one night.
DAY 2
REYKJAVIK TO VIK
REYKJAVIK TO VIK

Enjoy a morning tour of Reykjavik before heading through Hveragerdi village. Continue to the Golden Circle and unearth Gullfoss, the ‘Golden Falls’, and the nearby Geysir hot spring area to see the famous Strokkur geyser. Journey along the south shore and stop to admire the waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss before continuing to Dyrholaey nature reserve*. Overnight in Vík area. (B,D)

 

*Please note that Dyrholaey is closed during nesting season, approximately mid-May until June 25th.
 

DAY 3
VIK TO HOFN
VIK TO HOFN

Cross Eldhraun, the largest mass of lava ever to flow on earth, before reaching Kirkjuaejarklaustur. Continue over Skeidararsandur sands to Skaftafell, a beautiful glacial area within Vatnajokull National Park, then continue to Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon – a birthplace of icebergs. Throughout the day, enjoy magnificent views of the mighty Vatnajokull Glacier. Overnight in Hofn area. (B,D)

 

Optional excursions: Boat tour on the Glacial Lagoon; Super jeep tour on Vatnajökull Glacier.

DAY 4
HOFN TO EGILSSTADIR
HOFN TO EGILSSTADIR

Drive from Hofn through Almannaskard pass, stopping en route to admire the majestic coastline. Continue to the magnificent East Fjord mountains passing through coastal fjord villages. Overnight in Egilsstadir area. (B,D)
 

DAY 5
EGILSSTADIR TO LAKE MYVATN
EGILSSTADIR TO LAKE MYVATN

Explore the highland plateau Modrudalsoaefi and, en route to Lake Myvatn, stop at Dettifoss. Visit Namaskard pass with its boiling mud pools and vibrant colours. Discover the natural beauty of the Lake Myvatn area, including the pseudo craters at Skutustadir and Laxa Salmon River. Overnight in Myvatn area. (B,D)

 

Optional excursions: Myvatn Nature Baths; Horse riding in Myvatn/Safarihestar

DAY 6
LAKE MYVATN TO SIGLUFJORDUR
LAKE MYVATN TO SIGLUFJORDUR

After breakfast, explore the peculiar lava formations at Dimmuborgir. Travel to Akureyri, making a stop at the magnificent Godafoss Waterfall and the old turf farm, Laufas. Reach Akureyri and walk through the colourful northern ’capital’ of Iceland before continuing along the coastal road of Eyjafjordur towards the town of Siglufjordur. Overnight in Siglufjordur. DAY 7
SIGLUFJORDUR TO BORGARNES
SIGLUFJORDUR TO BORGARNES

In the morning, visit Siglufjordur‘s Herring Museum and learn more about when Siglufjordur was transformed into a herring boom town, thanks to a large migration of herring. Continue to Skagafjordur, home of the unique Icelandic horse, towards the village of Blonduos on the river Blanda. Cross Holtavorduheidi plateau through Borgarfjordur to the town of Borgarnes. Overnight in Borgarnes area. (B,D)
 

DAY 8
BORGARNES TO REYKJAVIK
BORGARNES TO REYKJAVIK

Today continue to Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in the world. Stop at the Hraunfossar Waterfalls before continuing to Lake Thingvallavatn and Thingvellir National Park, the ancient site of the world’s first outdoor parliament. Overnight in Reykjavik. (B)

DAY 9
FLY TO THE UK
Enjoy a visit and a bathe in the famous Blue Lagoon. Transfer to airport for the flight back to UK. (B)
