Lapland Break at the Inari Hotel

5 Day Tour, from £1690 per person

In the far north of Finnish Lapland, on the edge of beautiful Lake Inari, the Inari Wilderness Hotel is a remote retreat where snow-covered forests and frozen lakes provide the backdrop to the day’s adventures. Far from major civilisation, this is a fantastic place from which to search for the northern lights; by car, snowmobile and even at an Aurora Camp. You'll also learn how to drive your own husky-sled through the Lappish wilderness, snowmobile through glittering forest trails and try ice-fishing on this fully-inclusive short break. The hotel offers 3 different accommodation options on a full board basis from 40 Wilderness rooms, 8 Log cabins (sleeps 2 to 4 persons) and 12 Aurora Bubbles/Cabins (sleeps 2 comfortably )

Three types of accommodation are available at Inari Wilderness Hotel; choose from a Wilderness Room, an Aurora Cabin or a Log Cabin. Stays here are full-board, with both lunch and dinner served buffet-style in the beautifully-designed restaurant. All excursions on days 2-4 are included in this holiday, but the order in which you enjoy them may vary depending on timing and snow conditions when you arrive in Finland.

Reindeer & Ice fishing with Snowmobile: Travel by snowmobile to the reindeer farm, where you will have a chance to meet an authentic reindeer herder and his herd. Here, learn some interesting facts about these semi-wild animals and the life up in the Arctic circle. There will be also possibility for a short reindeer sledge ride, as well as an ice fishing experience. The excursion includes lunch (soup by the open fire).

Aurora Snowmobiling: Night time snowmobiling is an exhilarating experience. Head out in search of a good location to try and spot the Aurora Borealis. If the northern lights appear, we’ll stop, turn off the head torches and snow mobiles to admire nature’s light show. There will be warm drinks to keep us warm and comfortable during this wintry excursion.

Snowshoeing: Snowshoeing trek is the best way to experience the beauty and calmness of Nordic forests. Perhaps spot animal tracks on snow, see the snow-covered forests and if lucky, also meet some wildlife during your trek. There will be a lunch by an open fire on this day.

Aurora Camp: This excursion takes you Aurora hunting on the stunning Lake Inari. Sit comfortably a sledge that is pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Enjoy the northern sky all the way to the camp place. While observing the night sky, warm up around a blazing campfire sipping hot drinks and enjoying each other’s company. The atmosphere by the campfire is an experience in itself. Lake Inari is one of the best places in the world for aurora viewing since there is no light pollution at all. If you are lucky, you might get to enjoy this unique light phenomenon.

Husky Safari: An absolute ‘must do’ when visiting Lapland! You will be taught how to handle the sled before heading out on the husky safari, where the huskies will pull your sled through the beautiful winter scenery, passing along frozen Lake Inari. The dogs’ excitement is infectious but they fall silent on the trail, this is the only way to see Lapland. All our husky safaris include full instructions and are based on two people sharing a sled unless otherwise stated.

Aurora Hunt by Car: Try and hunt down the Auroras by car. During good weather head for one of the specific camp spots, to try and photograph this phenomenon. If the weather doesn’t look as promising, head further out in search of clearer skies. During the trip, guide will serve some warm drinks and snacks.
