Start your train adventure with a Eurostar journey from London St. Pancras to Brussels, traveling through the Channel Tunnel into continental Europe. Once in Brussels, transfer to a German ICE (InterCity Express), a high-speed train headed for Cologne, and enjoy the scenic landscapes of Belgium and western Germany along the way. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel, such as the Courtyard by Marriott Cologne or a similar option, for a two-night stay. This evening, marvel at the magnificent Cologne Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and explore the charming Old Town with its narrow alleys and traditional breweries.

DAY 2
COLOGNE

Today enjoy a free day to explore Cologne or speak to one of our travel specialists to perhaps add a guided brewhouse walking tour. Delve deeper into Cologne's rich history by visiting the Roman-Germanic Museum, home to an extensive collection of Roman artifacts. Stroll along the Rhine River promenade, perhaps taking a leisurely boat cruise to appreciate the city's skyline. DAY 3
COLOGNE TO COPENHAGEN

Begin your scenic train journey from Cologne to Copenhagen with a transfer in Hamburg. The trip takes about four hours to Hamburg and another five hours to Copenhagen, offering views of rolling countryside and quaint villages. A highlight is the ferry ride from Puttgarden to Rødby, providing stunning views of the Baltic Sea. Upon arrival, check into Hotel Absalon or a similar option in the vibrant Vesterbro district. DAY 5
COPENHAGEN TO GOTHENBURG

Today board a direct train to Gothenburg (under four hours), Sweden's second-largest city, travelling across the impressive Øresund Bridge, which spans the strait between Denmark and Sweden, offering stunning views of the surrounding waters. As the journey continues, take in picturesque Danish and Swedish landscapes, including coastal stretches and verdant forests. Upon arrival in Gothenburg check in to the Hotel Clarion Post or similar for three nights. Explore the Haga district, famous for its well-preserved wooden houses, boutique shops, and cosy cafés. Don't miss sampling a traditional Swedish cinnamon bun, known locally as 'kanelbulle'. (B)

GOTHENBURG

Perhaps start your day with a visit to the Gothenburg Museum of Art, home to a remarkable collection of Nordic and international masterpieces. Today, travel by train from Gothenburg to Oslo (around 2.5 hours), passing through rather bleak terrain as you approach the Norwegian border. As the journey unfolds, you’ll pass the old border post of Halden, before stopping at Fredrikstad, where the well-preserved fortified walls of the old town offer a glimpse into Norway’s rich history. The train continues through the charming Norwegian countryside, with views of serene lakes and rolling hills, gradually making its way toward Oslo. Upon arrival, check in to the Thon Hotel Opera or similar for 2 nights. Explore the vibrant Aker Brygge waterfront, a revitalized area filled with restaurants, shops, and contemporary art installations. OSLO
OSLO

Enjoy a free day in Oslo. We recommend visiting the Viking Ship Museum, which showcases well-preserved Viking vessels and fascinating artifacts. For a truly unique experience, explore the Vigeland Sculpture Park, home to over 200 sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. The seven-hour journey includes 182 tunnels and spiral tracks navigating steep terrain. As you travel, enjoy breathtaking views of towering peaks and valleys. Arriving in Bergen, check into the Grand Hotel Terminus for two nights. Spend the evening exploring the UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf, with its colourful wooden buildings, vibrant shops, cafes, and rich maritime history dating back to the Hanseatic League.

DAY 11
BERGEN

Enjoy a free day in Bergen, or speak to one of our travel specialists to perhaps add a scenic fjord cruise to the Mostraumen Strait, passing dramatic landscapes and waterfalls. This morning perhaps begin with a ride on the Fløibanen funicular to Mount Fløyen, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the city and surrounding fjords For a cultural experience, visit Troldhaugen, the former home of composer Edvard Grieg, or wander through the UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf, with its colourful wooden buildings and charming boutiques. Explore the Bergenhus Fortress for a glimpse of the city’s history, then spend the evening dining on fresh seafood at one of Bergen’s renowned waterfront restaurants. (B)

DEPART BERGEN
Bergen

Your journey comes to an end today in Bergen. You may choose to return to the UK by flight, continue your travels onward, or the train back to the UK.
