Located just 28km from Dubrovnik, Trebinje is Bosnia-Herzegovina’s southern-most city and a serious rival to Mostar in the beauty stakes. With a rich Serbian and Muslim heritage, Trebinje contains some excellent examples of typical Ottoman architecture and other medieval buildings, many of which line the Trebisnjica River that cuts through the centre of the city - all to a serene backdrop of green, rolling hills.
The Arslanagic Bridge and the riverside Old Town are particular highlights of a visit here, as are the pair of 17th century mosques and the city walls. Just outside Trebinje is the 15th century Trvdos Orthodox Monastery, where the monks make and sell their own brand of delicious wine.
