Nestled comfortably in a pristine jungle habitat in Borneo, the eco-friendly Borneo Rainforest Lodge reinforces the impression of being 'immersed in nature'.
Offering just 30 spacious and well appointed chalets with large en-suite bathrooms there are a choice of different chalet types ranging from standard to deluxe, premium deluxe up to the newest premium villas that provide comfortable accommodation in these pristine jungle surroundings. Deluxe chalets and above benefit from air-conditioning and outdoor bathtubs which are a real treat to soak in after your trekking adventures! The new premium villas comprise a total of 2 single storey and 1 double storey villas, all in riverfront locations and designed to offer guests panoramic views of the million-year-old rainforest.
The Lodge offers a single bar and restaurant area and all meals are buffet style: the food is of an excellent standard and there is plenty of it. Some of the food comes from the on-site organic garden. You can choose to sit inside or outside on the deck surrounded by the sights and sounds of the jungle environment. The bar menu offers an extensive array of drinks including a rather impressive cocktail list. WiFi is available in the bar and restaurant.
We thoroughly enjoyed every minute and the whole holiday ran like clockwork – everywhere we went there was someone waiting to greet us and everything ran exactly to the times we had been given on our schedule. Everything on our travels had been considered, from ensuring that we always had water, meals and snacks right down to telling us where the toilet stops would be! The staff were always friendly and helpful and the transfers smooth.
For us, the holiday was about the wildlife. Danum valley was amazing. The accommodation is superb and our guide, Akmal was terrific. He was friendly, patient and knowledgeable and we managed to see a mother orangutan and her baby, civets, red leaf monkeys, gibbons, macaques and many more. We really felt that we had experienced a rainforest and we loved trekking to the viewpoint early in the morning, going on the canopy walkway and doing a night walk.
We were equally as lucky on the river and Sepilok. Our guide there, Eric, was superb. He was so knowledgeable about the animals and birds and also told us a lot about the local people and culture. We managed to see another wild mother orangutan and baby, proboscis monkeys and many, many more animals including, the highlight for me, pygmy elephants. The accommodation was excellent and we enjoyed the food at these lodges more than anywhere else.
We would like to congratulate you and your colleagues in Borneo for running such a smooth operation and for making our holiday wholly enjoyable. We would wholeheartedly recommend your company to others and we will certainly use Regent Holidays again!
