Stepping into Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel feels like crossing the threshold into a magical world; the artistry behind the ice creations and the use of light is truly dazzling. Its location, just outside of Alta, gives the property the prestige of being the world's northernmost ice hotel.
At the time of its inception in 2000, Sorrisniva was the first hotel of its kind in Norway and only the second ice hotel in the whole world.
Each winter the impressive structure is re-built entirely out of the snow and ice. A new arctic theme is adopted each year and brought to life by the vision of the local sculptors to create an enchanting space for you to spend one extraordinary night. The hotel is kept at a cool -4°C but your cosy sleeping bag will do an excellent job at keeping you warm so you can sleep easily in the silence and serenity of the igloo, regardless of if you choose the standard ice room or opt for one of the more extravagant designed suites.
The warm building located next door offers a restaurant serving locally sourced food, luggage storage, a sauna, and bathroom facilities. There are also outdoor Jacuzzis available for hire as well as an icebar where you can enjoy a beverage served in a glass made of ice!
Truly a stay like no other.
