Ideal for travellers looking for a memorable winter adventure, this unique retreat combines comfortable accommodation, wilderness experiences and exceptional dining in the heart of the Alta River valley. During the day, head into the snowy landscape by snowmobile and husky sled, with the Arctic light creating beautiful colours across the winter horizon even when the sun remains below it.
Your final night brings an experience unlike any other as you sleep in the Igloo Hotel, rebuilt each year from locally harvested snow and ice around a new theme. Before settling into your ice room, meet reindeer and discover Sami traditions, including the evocative joik, around a traditional lavvu fire. With transfers, accommodation and experiences arranged, you can simply enjoy the magic of the Arctic.
Tour Itinerary
On arrival into Alta, take the Sorrisniva shared transfer to the Igloo Hotel. Check into your room at the Arctic Wilderness Lodge. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
After breakfast, take a snowmobile ride through the wilderness of the Alta River valley to the inland plateau. During the winter months, the Arctic light often creates wonderful colours on the horizon, despite the sun never rising. Round off the day with a Jacuzzi (private) and sauna experience (shared) before experiencing a wonderful dinner. (B)
Sled along the Alta River and into the pine forest in small groups. Two share one sled, and a stop will be made halfway so you can take turns. When back at the kennels, there will be time to cuddle and interact with the huskies whilst enjoying storytelling around the bonfire in a traditional Lavvu whilst enjoying hot drinks and snacks. (B)
After breakfast, check out of your room in the wilderness lodge and leave your luggage at the Igloo reception desk as tonight you will be experiencing a night in an ice room. Embark on a unique and intriguing experience that takes you through breathtaking scenery around Sorrisniva. Ride on a sled pulled by reindeer until you arrive at a traditional Lavvu where you will hear stories around the bonfire and experience the traditional Sámi Joik that is the core of Sámi culture. (B)
Take the hotel's shared transfer bus to the airport for your flight home. (B)
