The Island Lodge

Situated at the tip of a fruit-laden island in the Mekong, Michel's hotel offers a calm tropical getaway. A mere 2-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, the lodge feels more secluded than its proximity would suggest. On-site, the urban sounds give way to forgotten French classics on the gramophone and the gentle murmur of boats along the Mekong. With familial ties to old Indochine, Michel has recreated the relaxed atmosphere of that era with original family pictures and period pieces incorporated into the stylish decor. The cheerful staff attends to guests' needs, blending French luxury with a Vietnamese touch. While some may explore backwaters and villages, we found equal enjoyment lounging by the pool, watching the continuous flow of boats on the Mekong, offering glimpses of local life without the need to venture far.
