Tour Itinerary
Fly to Bucharest, where you will be met on arrival and transferred by private car to your five-star hotel for a four-night stay. Set on historic Calea Victoriei beside Revolution Square, the InterContinental Athénée Palace provides an excellent base for exploring the Romanian capital. Depending on your arrival time, spend the remainder of the day relaxing or take a first walk along Calea Victoriei and through the surrounding city centre.
Join your private guide to explore Bucharest and discover the events that shaped Romania during the Communist period. Visit the enormous Palace of Parliament, commissioned by Nicolae Ceaușescu during the 1980s, before seeing Revolution Square, a focal point of the Romanian Revolution in December 1989. Continue to the former Ceaușescu family residence, now open as a museum, for a fascinating insight into the private life of Romania’s former leader. The remainder of the day is free to explore independently. (B)
Leave the city centre for a relaxing day at Therme Bucharest, an extensive thermal bathing and wellness complex surrounded by tropical vegetation. Spend the day enjoying its warm pools and relaxation areas, with plenty of time simply to unwind away from the city. Your day pass and return transfers from Bucharest are included, leaving you free to enjoy the facilities at your own pace before returning to your hotel. (B)
Travel through the Carpathians into Transylvania for a full-day private excursion. Visit the Libearty Bear Sanctuary near Zărnești, which provides a safe home for brown bears rescued from captivity and poor conditions. Continue to 14th-century Bran Castle, dramatically positioned above the historic route between Transylvania and Wallachia and later associated with the Dracula legend. Complete the day in Brașov, exploring the medieval Old Town around Piața Sfatului and seeing the imposing Gothic Black Church, before returning to Bucharest. (B)
Depending on your flight departure time, enjoy some final time at leisure in Bucharest. Perhaps take a last stroll along Calea Victoriei, browse the shops and cafés of the city centre or relax at your hotel before your private transfer to Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport for your flight back to the UK.
