Arctic Aurora Express: Norway to Lapland
Experience two fantastic destinations in one trip by combining the best of Arctic Norway and Finnish Lapland on this unforgettable winter adventure. Fly to Tromsø, the gateway to the Arctic and Norway's northernmost hub, a lively cultural city surrounded by snow-capped mountains, sprawling forests, deep fjords and picturesque islands. Travel onwards by luxurious Arctic Aurora Express nightliner to Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland. Cross some of the most remote and spectacular landscapes in northern Scandinavia, following the heart of the Aurora Zone where the Northern Lights are most prevalent. The journey crosses the Norwegian- Finnish border near Kilpisjärvi, before continuing through the vast wilderness of Finnish Lapland. As dawn breaks, you are greeted by the soft Arctic light illuminating Finland's pristine winter scenery. Arrive into Rovaniemi, the gateway to Finnish Lapland, where Arctic adventures, Northern Lights, snowy forests and Santa Claus magic combine with modern cafés, museums and warm Finnish hospitality year-round.
Tour Itinerary
Fly to Tromsø and transfer to the city centre to check-in to your hotel. The vibrant community warrants some time to explore with several interesting museums, delicious restaurants and more pubs per capita than any other Norwegian town.
Spend a free day discovering Tromsø’s natural wonders or head out on an optional excursion. Perhaps marvel at the icy wilderness whilst being pulled through fields by a herd of reindeer or join a whale watching boat tour to search for humpbacks and orcas. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing excursions are also available.
In the evening, embark on an aurora safari and travel through the Arctic wilderness to a base camp to enjoy a hot meal (soup) and campfire. Northern lights sightings here are exceptionally high, with a success rate of 93 percent. (B,D)

On arrival into Rovaniemei, make your own way to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
In the afternoon, explore Rovaniemi’s compact city centre, including the Arktikum Museum, which showcases northern nature, science and history. Finish the day with a riverside sauna or a cosy Nordic dinner.(B)
In winter, Rovaniemi becomes a true Arctic playground with classic Lapland experiences. Why not explore Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle, where snowy scenery, reindeer encounters and festive atmosphere create a magical setting. Popular activities include husky sledding through frozen forests and reindeer safaris offering a slower, traditional way to experience the landscape. Snowmobiling allows fast travel across frozen rivers and wilderness. Ask us about adding some optional activities to this day. (B)
