Bohinj Short Break
Take a short break to Slovenia's Bohinj region. The area boasts the largest natural lake in Slovenia and is nestled in the breathtaking Julian Alps, making it the perfect destination for those looking for outdoor adventure.
Bohinj so oftens plays second fiddle to its more famous sister Bled and being slightly more under the radar and less commercially developed definitely adds to its appeal. The area is a walkers paradise with many well marked trails around the lake and into the surrounding mountains. Lake based activities are plentiful with kayaking, SUP and boat rides on offer.
This short break has been developed with the Hotel Bohinj and includes some lovely extras such as hiking tour with an experienced guide, Julian Alps card and delicious a la carte dinners, which helps to make this short holiday a truly memorable one.
Tour Itinerary
On arrival in Ljubljana, you will be met and transferred to Bohinj for a 4 night stay. Relax knowing dinner is taken care of at the hotel this evening. (B,D)
Enjoy a delicious breakfast this morning before heading out for the day to make use of the included Julian Alps Card. You could opt to take a panoramic boat ride on Lake Bohinj, hike up to the mighty Savica Waterfall or even visit the Alpine Dairy Farming Museum. Don't forget your included tea/coffee and cake this afternoon! (B,D)
Further exploration of the area today with a guide on your choice of half day hiking tour. Opt to explore the lakeside area, Mostnica Canyon and Voje Valley or several more challenging routes up to the ridges and viewpoints that surround the valley (route agreed on at time of booking). In the afternoon, a trip on the Mt Vogel cable car is a must. It elevates the rider 1500m up into the Triglav National Park where many hiking opportunities await, or you may opt to relax at the alfresco café and soak up the magnificent views with a drink in hand. Julian Alps card holders receive 20% discount on the admission price. (B,D)
Slovenia is a small country so today could be the day to venture further afield, perhaps visiting the more famous lakeside town of Bled (40 minutes away) with its enchanting island and imposing hilltop castle- no visit here is complete without a taste of the infamous Bled cream cake! It is easy to reach by public bus or taxi. Alternatively, make use of the excellent spa and wellness facilities at the hotel. No dinner is included tonight so venture out to try one of Bohinj's great restaurants. (B)
Transfer back to Ljubljana Airport for your return flight, or opt to extend the holiday in Bohinj or further afield. (B)
