Tour Itinerary

DAY 1
FLY TO BUCHAREST

Arrive at Bucharest Airport and transfer to your centrally located  hotel in downtown Bucharest. If time permits, enjoy a short introductory city tour, offering a glimpse of the capital's vibrant atmosphere and notable landmarks.
In the evening, gather for a special wine tasting dinner, where you'll learn about Romania’s rich wine culture. A presentation by a professional sommelier will take you through the country's top wineries, the art of winemaking, and some fascinating insights into Romanian vintages. It’s the perfect way to start your culinary and cultural journey through Romania and Moldova. (D)

DAY 2
BUCHAREST TO BRASOV

After breakfast, depart for the scenic drive into the stunning Carpathian Mountains, heading towards Brașov. On the way, stop to explore Peleș Castle in Sinaia, a breathtaking summer residence of the Romanian kings. Known as one of the most beautiful castles in Eastern Europe, it showcases exquisite architecture against the backdrop of the towering Carpathians.
Next, visit the famous Dracula’s Castle in Bran, perched atop a rock in the pass between the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains. This iconic 14th century Gothic fortress, once a medieval stronghold against Ottoman raids, draws countless visitors hoping to glimpse the shadow of the legendary vampire. Continue your journey to Brașov. (B)

DAY 3
BRASOV TO SIGHISOARA
Sighisoara

Start the day with a walking tour of Brașov, visiting landmarks like the Black Church, a Gothic masterpiece, and strolling to Piața Unirii to explore the Church of St. Nicholas and The First Romanian School. Then, travel to Sighisoara, Eastern Europe's most beautiful medieval citadel. En route, stop at the Cincșor Fortified Church, a preserved Saxon site, and enjoy a traditional lunch hosted by a Saxon family. In Sighisoara, visit the Clock Tower, Wooden Covered Staircase, and Hill Church. Don't miss the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Count Dracula. (B,L)

DAY 4
SIGHISOARA TO IASI
Iași

After breakfast, journey through the stunning Eastern Carpathian Mountains, passing the dramatic Bicaz Gorge with its towering limestone walls. En route to Iași, stop at Gramma Winery, where the cool climate produces wines known for their freshness and complexity. Enjoy a special wine tasting to experience Gramma's distinctive wines. Upon arrival in Iași, explore the city at your leisure. In the evening, savor a unique dining experience in a monastery, sipping blessed wine while listening to a Byzantine church choir from the Iași Theological University. A truly unforgettable evening of culture and tradition. (B,D)

DAY 5
IASI TO CHATEAU VARTELY
Château Vartely

After breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Iași, a cultural hub of Moldavia, visiting landmarks like the Metropolitan Cathedral, Palace of Culture, and Trei Ierarhi Church. Iași was the capital of Moldavia until 1861 and later Romania during WWI. Cross into Moldova and visit Mircesti Winery, known as the “Little Tuscany of Moldova,” with vines on slopes similar to southern Germany and northern Italy. Explore the restored mansion and scenic estate. Continue to Curchi Monastery, with its stunning cathedral and beautiful grounds. End the day with a wine tasting and dinner at Château Vartely, featuring their renowned ice wine. (B, D)

DAY 6
CHATEAU VARTELY TO CHISINAU
Cricova Winery

Start the day at Old Orhei, an archaeological complex with ruins from various civilizations, including the Golden Horde’s “New Town” and the “St. Maria Dormata” Orthodox cave monastery. Then, head to Chisinau, Moldova’s vibrant capital. In the afternoon, visit Cricova Winery, one of Europe’s largest underground wine cities, where you’ll explore 60 km of cellars named after famous wines. The ideal conditions here store 30 million litres of wine. Don't miss the National Oenotec, featuring wines from Burgundy, Tokay, the Rhine, and rare collections like the 1902 Jerusalem of Easter. Enjoy Chisinau's nightlife in the evening. (B)

DAY 7
WINE FESTIVAL IN CHISINAU
The Triumphal Arch in Chisinau

After breakfast, explore Chisinau on a city tour, visiting highlights like Central Park, the Alley of Moldovan Literature Classics, Stephen the Great Monument, National Assembly Square, Triumph Arch, and the Nativity Cathedral. Don’t miss the Organ Hall and the vibrant souvenir market. In the afternoon, enjoy free time at the National Wine Festival, celebrating Moldova’s exceptional wine, with around 100 wineries showcasing their products in Chisinau’s central square. In the evening, enjoy a special dinner with wine pairings, as a local expert introduces you to some of Moldova’s finest wines from small producers. (B, D)

DAY 8
TRANSDNIESTR & PUCARI WINERY
Transnistrian government building in Tiraspol

Explore the unique Transnistria region, a breakaway territory in Moldova where remnants of the USSR endure. Visit the “Aquatir” Sturgeon Farm to see sturgeon breeding and black caviar production. Then, head to Tiraspol, the capital of Transnistria. Stroll the main street, view the Lenin statue and T-34 tank monument, and experience the Soviet-style atmosphere. Despite its history, Tiraspol is peaceful, with no military activity since 1992. In the evening, return to Moldova and stay at Chateau Purcari, renowned for its centuries-old viticulture traditions. The modern chateau offers a glimpse into the history of Purcari wines. (B,D)
