Tour Itinerary
Fly from the UK to Ålesund and transfer to the city centre where you'll spend the first two nights of your Norwegian adventure. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Immerse yourself in Norway's prettiest town, where there are heaps of exciting activities to take part in, like deep sea fishing, kayaking trips or high-speed RIB safaris. The hiking in the area is also excellent - the view from the top of Sukkertoppen (The Sugar Top) is truly worth the hike up! (B)
After collecting your hire car, it's time for a true highlight - drive one of the most dramatic stretches of road in all of Norway - The Atlantic Road National Scenic Route which goes from Bud to Kristiansund. This road winds its way alongside the ocean's edge, and jumps between islands and islets by a series of eight bridges. (B)
Whilst in Kristiansund a trip on the local Sundåten boat is a must. Kristiansund's town centre is spread over four islands and the boat service has transported passengers around the city for over 200 years. Perhaps take a visit to Grip Island to see one of the smallest stave churches in the world. When you're ready to leave Kristiansund, drive to Andalsnes. This is a charming town surrounded by dramatic mountains, deep valleys and fjords. (B)
We recommend a ride on the Romsdalen Gondola, offering a spectacular journey through the heart of Norway's stunning Romsdalen Valley. Take in stunning views of towering mountains and the dramatic Troll Wall- Europe's tallest vertical rock face. At the top, soak in the peaceful surroundings and the breathtaking vistas. We recommend a visit to the on-site cafe to enjoy locally sourced dishes. Arrive in Geiranger, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perhaps take a boat tour along the fjord for breathtaking views of steep cliffs, waterfalls, like the Seven Sisters and Bridal Veil, as well as lush greenery. (B)
Today, head to Loen, a picturesque village nestled between the fjords of Nordfjord and Jostedalsbreen. Here you can experience a variety of outdoor activities. We can personally recommend a trip on the Loen Sky lift. This is an exhilarating gondola journey to Mount Hoven rising 1000 metres in just five minutes, offering panoramic views of Nordfjord and Jostedalsbreen Glacier. Enjoy a meal or snack in the mountaintop restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows. (B)
