The wild archipelago of Vesterålen is located just north of the Lofoten islands in Norway and includes the municipalities of Andøy, Bø, Hadsel, Sortland, and Øksnes. This is an area of astounding natural beauty and contrast encompassing white beaches, wild landscapes and forested mountain peaks rising out from the ocean. The mountains and fjords of this region are a nature lovers’ paradise; by day white-tailed eagles and seals compete for herring in the frozen waters and by night the northern lights swirl over towering snow-capped peaks and islets. Unlike its popular neighbouring Lofoten islands to the south, Vesterålen still offers a haven of pristine nature which can be enjoyed blissfully crowd-free.
