Today drive out into the countryside to the Kiulu River. Enjoy a gentle rafting experience through rural Borneo, this is suitable for all the family. Enjoy lunch on the riverbank before returning to the city for the rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure. (B,L)
This morning return to the airport and take the short flight across to Sandakan. Land and drive to the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre for the morning feeding. Observe them at their feeding stations in the rainforest and at the nursery (if open). Continue to visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) which rescues captured sun bears and is involved in their conservation, welfare rehabilitation and education. Enjoy lunch in the Sepilok area before taking a boat cruise to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary - there are plenty of opportunities to spot the resident wildlife so keep an eye out! Transfer further upriver to Sukau and the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. Late afternoon enjoy a wildlife river cruise to search for the resident riverside residents. This morning wake up to the calls of nature and enjoy breakfast before transferring downriver to Abai Jungle Lodge. Enjoy time at leisure until late afternoon when you take a river cruise in search of the wildlife. Early morning, enjoy a river cruise for birdwatching at the Pitas Lake. Return to the lodge for breakfast and enjoy time at leisure. Late morning there is the option to join the tree planting project: a short village tour, tree planting and a simple lunch with some of the Abai villagers.
