Experience the best that the Hardanger region has to offer on this week-long fly-drive that starts in Oslo and finishes in Bergen.
This route showcases some of the most spectacular natural landscapes of central Norway. Drive the celebrated and incredibly varied Hardangervidda National Scenic route, which crosses the biggest high mountain plateau in Northern Europe, passes Norway's most famous waterfall, Vøringsfossen, and ventures through the wild Måbødalen Valley.
Explore the majestic shores of the Hardangerfjord, the country's second largest fjord, where stops can be made at tiny villages as well as fruit or cider farms. Enjoy all of this and more with the freedom that a car offers to wander from the main path and see what waits to be discovered there.
Fly to Oslo and take the express train into the city centre and make your way to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore Norway's exciting capital.

Today is free to explore Oslo or to book an optional activity. Norway's capital is an energetic and modern hub which is easily explored by foot. Take a stroll along the city's harbour front and past the iconic Opera House or explore one of the many museums or art galleries on offer in the city (the National Museum and the Viking Ship Museum are both excellent options). Vigeland Park, filled with over 200 sculptures, is also well worth a visit on a sunny day. (B)

Pick up the hire car and start your incredible road trip across Norway with a drive overland from Oslo to Geilo via the beautiful Hallingdal Valley. Geilo is a popular hub for outdoor enthusiasts, with excellent hiking opportunities available in the two nearby national parks - Hallingskarvet National Park and Hardangervidda National Park. (B)

Today's drive travels along Norway's Hardangervidda Scenic Route, considered one of the country's top drives. The route goes across the Hardangervidda mountain plateau, through lush valleys, and past many waterfalls. Make sure to stop and take in the view of Hardangerjøkulen glacier as well as a photo-stop at Vøringsfossen, one of Norway's most impressive waterfalls, before continuing on to the peaceful village of Eidfjord. Consider a visit to the Hardangervidda Nature Centre, before departing for Bergen. The route offers many charming side trips with cider factories and a theme park along the way. The drive along the shores of the Hardangerfjord is incredibly picturesque. En-route, make sure to stop at Steinsdalsfossen waterfall, which you can walk right behind! Return your rental car to the Bergen down town office. (B)

Today is free to explore Bergen or book an optional excursion. Why not take a stroll through Bryggen, Bergen's atmospheric Hanseatic old town located on the harbour front, where you can also find some of the freshest seafood around at the Torget Fish Market. There are plenty of museums to captivate your attention, or escape the city on the funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen or take the Ulriken cable car for sweeping views of the fjord-side city and the seven mountains that famously surround it.
