Mountains of Arabia

8 Day Tour, from £5965 per person

Saudi Arabia offers much more than just desert landscapes. The country's mountainous regions are particularly splendid, stretching from the northern border with Jordan to the southern border with Yemen. These striking peaks are perfect for road trips and are home to captivating cultural traditions. Additionally, they boast a cool, refreshing climate and some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Middle East. The area is adorned with ancient stone-built watchtowers, serving as historic guardians of the caravan routes.

This epic road trip starts and finishes in Jeddah, the country's second-biggest city, along the Red Sea. The journey continues inland to Taif (1800m), located on higher ground where the air is cooler and welcoming and climbs even higher along the Sarawat range to Al Bahah (2200m). Heading south again you pass small villages and reach the town on Abha, not far from Janal Sawda, Saudi's highest summit at 2800m. Fly back to Jeddah after a visit to the fascinating hanging village of Habala, where the journey ends.
