Travel in a coach through lush farmland in south Iceland, with powerful volcanoes, glaciers and thundering waterfalls aplenty for you to feast your eyes on. Today's first stop is Skógafoss Waterfall, one of the region's star attractions and arguably Iceland's most iconic waterfall. From Skógafoss, walk east through a spellbinding glacial landscape for approximately one hour to reach Sólheimajökull glacier. It's worth bringing a camera or cameraphone along here as the views are sensational, with jagged peaks and stunningly blue glaciers contrasted against a wide open sky.
En route back to Reykjavik from Sólheimajökull, stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Here you can walk behind the cascading wall of water and look out through the spray, a truly magical sight. (B)
Voyage through the scenic mountains and valleys of west Iceland from Reykjavik and reach Basecamp Jaki at Langjökull glacier. Suit up and then hop aboard a snowmobile to navigate up the glacier towards the ice cave, with plenty of incredible views on offer along the way.
Accompanied by your guide, plunge into the ice cave and right into the glacier itself. Stretching nearly 300 metres into the glacier, this tunnel offers a unique opportunity to see the ice from the inside. With astonishing shades of crystalline blue on offer, it is an otherworldly location. Stop at Hraunfossar waterfalls on your way back to Reykjavik, where you can pace along multiple walkways to watch as the glacial water cascades out of the Hallmundarhraun lava field. (B)
