Minami-izu Holidays

Located at the southern tip of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, Minami-Izu is known for its rugged coastline, sandy beaches, dramatic sea cliffs and relaxed seaside atmosphere. It is less developed than many other parts of the peninsula, making it an excellent choice for travellers looking to experience Japan's natural beauty away from the crowds. Visitors can relax on beaches such as Yumigahama, one of the finest stretches of sand on the Izu Peninsula, explore the striking coastline around Cape Irozaki, or take boat trips to sea caves and rock formations. The area is also home to walking trails, coastal viewpoints, fishing villages and seasonal flower displays, including fields of yellow rapeseed blossoms and early cherry blossoms in late winter.

Minami-Izu appeals to a wide range of travellers, from beachgoers and families to hikers and photographers. The clear coastal waters are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and paddleboarding during the warmer months, while nature lovers can follow scenic walking routes around Cape Irozaki or explore nearby waterfalls and forest trails. Those interested in local culture can visit traditional fishing communities, sample fresh seafood and stay in family-run inns or hot spring accommodations.
