Lapland Break at the Hotel Muotka

Just 45 minutes from Ivalo, Finland’s northernmost airport, Muotka Wilderness Lodge is set deep in the forest, next to the Arctic fells of Urho Kekkonen National Park.
Far away from any light pollution, this remote Lapland lodge is the ideal spot for aurora hunting. Spend winter days exploring the silent snow-covered landscapes on included snowmobile and husky safaris, before heading out to gaze at the night sky.
All excursions indicated on days 2-4 of the itinerary are included in this holiday, but the order in which you enjoy them may vary depending on timing and snow conditions when you arrive in Finland.
Tour Itinerary
Fly to Ivalo and transfer to Muotka Wilderness Lodge. Enjoy dinner at the lodge’s restaurant, where seasonal Lappish cuisine is served daily, before checking in to a cosy Wilderness Room. Ask a Regent Finland Specialist about upgrading to a Riverside Suite or Aurora Cabin – a spacious private chalet with skyward windows for aurora viewing. (D)
Snowshoeing adventure: A snowshoeing trek is the best way to experience the beauty and calmness of Nordic forests. Explore the snow-covered forests and perhaps spot animal tracks on the snow and meet some wildlife. Then, enjoy lunch by an open fire. (B,L,D)
Husky safari: A husky safari is a bucket-list activity to enjoy when visiting Lapland. Learn how to handle the sled before heading out on the husky safari through charming scenery. All husky safaris include full instructions and are based on two people sharing a sled, unless otherwise stated.
Aurora snowshoeing: This evening, venture out into the darkness on snowshoes in search of the Northern Lights. Walk through snowy landscapes in the Muotka forests and hills to the aurora camp, accompanied by the light of the moon. Warm up by the campfire and wait for the aurora to show up, while warm drinks are prepared on the open fire. (B,L,D)
Cross-country skiing: Head to the forest and discover the glittering landscape by cross-country ski, warming up with a hot drink in the peaceful wilderness. This skiing tryout is all about learning something new and there’s no need to be afraid of falling over, as the soft snow provides a cushioned landing. There are lots of ready-made illuminated tracks in the Muotka surroundings, for the chance to go out alone after the introductory tour. (B,L,D)
Transfer back to Ivalo Airport for the return flight to the UK. (B)
