For Holiday Pioneers
If you’re thinking about a Regent holiday you’re probably somebody who likes to do things a little differently. Our destinations can be off-the-beaten-track, and some still remain relatively underdeveloped and may lack the facilities and service levels you have come to expect. That’s just part of what makes them so unique; travelling with this in mind will help you appreciate the little quirks and cultural differences you may encounter on your holiday.
Holidays Protected by ATOL
Your financial protection is important to us, which is why we are fully bonded by ATOL. Our ATOL licence (2786) protects any Regent holiday package including a flight and ensures that your money would be refunded or that you would be repatriated in the unlikely event of our insolvency. Read more about how ATOL will protect your holiday here.
Passport & Entry Requirements
As situations often change with passport requirements, we recommend that you always check with the relevant consulate before you travel. Please ensure that your passport is valid for six months after the end of your trip as many countries make this an entry requirement. We also recommend that you have sufficient blank pages to accommodate some of the larger entry stamps and visas.
We recommend that you leave copies of your documentation with a close relative (ideally someone who has knowledge of your medical history). You should include copies of the following:
FCDO Travel Advice
It is important that you are aware of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Travel Advice for the destination you are visiting. We recommend that you sign up to receive notifications, which will result in you receiving an email, should there be any advisory change, for your chosen destination. Please familiarise yourself with the latest advice for travellers, or alternatively, please contact your Travel Specialist and they will check the current advice for you and guide you accordingly.

Vaccinations
Vaccination requirements and recommendations frequently change and it is not possible for us to give comprehensive advice. We recommend that you consult your doctor or a specialist vaccination centre. Travel Health Pro offer comprehensive advice on travel health and vaccinations.
Travel Health
We do not give out specific recommendations on vaccine requirements and health-related issues. Health risks and vaccine requirements can change at any time, so it is important that you seek the latest medical advice. You must ensure you are aware of and comply with any health requirements, recommendations, and precautions such as vaccinations for every country you are visiting. For the latest information please visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice or www.travelhealthpro.org.uk/ and search for the country which you are travelling to.
Healthcare & Travel Insurance
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have comprehensive travel insurance with sufficient healthcare cover, including cover for existing medical conditions and any activities you plan to do. ABTA offers advice on finding the right travel insurance: https://www.abta.com/tips-and-advice/planning-and-booking-a-holiday/travel-insurance
If you are an EU citizen or resident, a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) allows you to receive state-provided healthcare in any of the other EU countries as well as in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
An EHIC holds you to the same standards as citizens of an EU country in terms of state-provided health insurance. Sometimes, this means you receive free healthcare. After Brexit, the U.K. introduced its own version of the EHIC card, the Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC). This card functions similarly to its predecessor, allowing Brits access to state healthcare during visits to the EU.
You can find out more about the EHIC on the Schengen Visa website.
After your EHIC has expired, you can replace it with the new UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) that can continue to be used in EU and Schengen countries.
GHIC or EHIC cards entitle you to state provided medical treatment that may become necessary during your trip. Any treatment provided is on the same terms as EU nationals. A GHIC or EHIC is not an alternative to travel insurance and you should have both before you travel. It does not cover all health-related costs, for example, medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment, and non-urgent treatment.
Travelling with Medicines
Please be aware that some countries have restrictions on taking certain medications, including codeine into the country. If you are taking prescription medication with you, it is advisable to take a copy of your prescription and/or a letter from your doctor that has details of your medication, including its generic/scientific (not just the brand name) name and the name of the health condition that you need the medication for.
We recommend that you carry any medication in hand luggage for the following reasons:
Tips for Travelling with Medication:
Bringing food into Great Britain
The rules on bringing meat, dairy, fish and other animal products depend on the country you’re bringing it from and there may be temporary restrictions in place to help stop the spread of certain diseases. This may include food items that you may be taking with you to consume on your journey back to the UK. For up to date information please monitor the Bringing Food into Great Britain government webpage.
Travelling with children under 18
You may be challenged by immigration or airport officials if you are travelling with a child (under 18 years) who has a different surname than yourself. Please read the get permission to take a child abroad on the Gov.uk website to see if any restrictions apply to you and if any additional documentation is needed for your trip.
Travel Advice
Regent Holidays specialises in travel to off-the-beaten-track destinations and therefore it is important to be aware of local conditions. We work with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to do all that we can to help British Travellers stay safe overseas. For the latest information regarding political situations and personal safety, please check the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office website: https://travelaware.campaign.gov.uk/
Airport Security Measures
Please note that due to new additional security checks there are delays processing through our UK airports which are affecting all passengers regardless of your final destination. You may be subject to additional searches and questions so we are advising all our clients to arrive in good time to check-in, pass through main security and at the boarding gate. The main change to security is that passengers travelling with any electronic or battery powered devices (mobile telephones, tablets, e-books, laptops, etc.) may be required to turn on their device in front of security teams and/or demonstrate the item’s functionality. Any device that has no power and that can't be turned on may be taken from you so please make sure your devices are charged before you leave home. All passengers will still be able to use electronic devices on board subject to the normal guidelines of using electronic devices in flight Safe mode.
Security & liquids carried in hand luggage
Even though Heathrow and some other UK airports are moving to the 2-litre allowances with advanced scanners, not all airports have the same rules:

We do not accept responsibility, nor legal liability for information or pricing that may have become incorrect, or misleading due to the passage of time, changes of ownership, or market conditions. Every reasonable effort is made to keep all information displayed current and up-to-date. ATOL PROTECTION
We hold an Air Travel Organiser's Licence issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (ATOL number 2786). When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday* from us, you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. We, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL Certificate, will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where neither we nor the supplier are able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable). If we, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL certificate, are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit, you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent or your credit card issuer where applicable. You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme. *The flights and flight- inclusive holidays we arrange are ATOL protected providing they are made available in the UK. For further information visit the ATOL website.
We are also a member of ABTA (ABTA number V2359). If your holiday does not include flights, ABTA will financially protect your holiday by ensuring you receive a refund or, if your arrangements include return travel to the UK (other than flights) you are returned to the UK in the event that your holiday cannot be provided as a result of our insolvency. Please go to www.abta.com for a copy of the guide to ABTA’s scheme of Financial Protection
