Mykines is one of the Faroes' most iconic islands. Starting from your hotel in Torshavn, transfer to Sorvagur to catch the ferry, heading out of the fjord past the dramatic island of Tindholmur to the Faroe's most Westerly point. Mykines is rightly renowned for its birdlife and depending on what time of year you visit you can expect to see puffins, guillemots, razorbills, oystercatchers, kittiwakes, fulmars, gannets and Arctic tern amongst up to 300 species who spend all or part of the year in the Faroes. You will be accompanied by a guide adept in spotting the various birdlife and will also tell you about the history of the island. Lunch is included on this memorable day trip.
For visitors on a fly-drive this trip can be booked without the transport from Torshavn, meeting your guide at the harbour at Sorvagur. We would recommend visiting with a guide but it is possible to visit the island on your own.
All visitors must pay a DKK100 conservation fee which can be done at www.hiking.fo.
