Vestmanna Bird Cliffs & Panorama View

A trip to the Vestmanna bird cliffs is one of the highlights of any trip to the Faroe Islands. Start with a bus ride over the mountain road from Torshavn, watching the stunning scenery pass by. From Vestmanna board your boat and head up the picturesque fjord before turning out into the open sea to skirt along the base of the towering cliffs rising vertically from the waves up to a height of 650 metre in places. The cliffs are home to nesting puffins, guillemots and razorbills whilst out to sea gannets can be seen hurtling into the water in search of fish. The boat weaves its way between outcrops of rocks and into grottoes before returning to the harbour. On the way back to Torshavn stop to have a look at the ancient Viking settlements at Kvivik.
